Our first post, welcoming you to the occasional ramblings from the Foundation. This is another channel we will use to educate about the Battle of Buffington Island as well as Morgan's Great Raid. These posts will include bios on the various commanders, stories from along the John H. Morgan Heritage Trail, projects the Foundation is working on - really anything related to the raid and regional Civil War history.
We will have a few different writers join us on this path so stayed tuned for some exciting posts!
I want to remind everyone that the Cadot-Blessing Camp #126 and Benjamin D. Fearing Camp #2 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will be hosting their yearly ceremony at the battlefield on Saturday, 16 July starting at 11:00 a.m. The event will feature the internationally acclaimed award-winning singer/songwriter/recording artist Steve Free. Lunch will be served after the ceremony at the Portland Community Center for a nominal fee. The public is invited to attend. Board members from the BIBPF will be in attendance.
